|October 10, 2025
A RARE white-throated needletail bird has been spotted in England for the first time in 34 years.
The bird, a relative to our native swift species, can be identified by its bullet-shaped body and long sabre-shaped wings.
It is native to East Asia and Australia but has now been seen at Tophill Low Nature Reserve in East Yorkshire - its first known appearance in England since 1991, according to Yorkshire Water.
