A SIBERIAN blast is about to send the UK into the deep freeze as winter sets in after a very mild autumn.

The Met Office has issued a rare amber warning of snow that is likely to cause disruption in the coming days.

Its map shows widespread snow and ice for tomorrow, with blizzards possible in the North of England and Scotland and temperatures plunging as low as -10C.

Conditions for the next seven days will be "markedly colder" with "harsh frosts" expected, said the Met Office.

Cold air is coming from Siberia and crossing over the Arctic to the UK, according to meteorologist Alex Burkill.
