Brits jailed by Taliban 'could soon be set free'
Daily Express
|April 10, 2025
AN ELDERLY British couple's prison ordeal in Afghanistan at the hands of the Taliban may soon be at an end.
Peter Reynolds, 79, and his wife Barbie, 75, were detained in February while travelling from Kabulto, their home in Bamyan province.
They are being kept in squalid conditions alongside rapists and murderers in a jail said to be "the nearest thing to hell". But officials now say they may soon be set free.
Detention
During their nine-week detention the Taliban have failed to shed any light on what crime the pensioners are alleged to have committed.
