A BOY with cerebral palsy died after his head became lodged in a medical bed the first night he slept in it, an inquest has heard.

Four-year-old Ethan Wade was non-verbal and had delayed development and mobility issues.

The specialist Olaf bed had been installed at the family home in Chatham, Kent, the day before and was left at its lowest level, as recommended when he was put to bed in it for the first time.

But the following morning his father, Benjamin Wade, found him face-down, unresponsive and "floppy" after he was believed to have suffered a respiratory arrest.

Mr Wade pulled him free and Ethan's mother, Jessica Gardiner, called 999 and gave CPR as instructed by the operator.
