Boxer boost to Army's fighting power

THE first of 623 state-of-the-art British armoured vehicles has been unveiled, as the Army bolsters its fleet amid rising global tensions.

The new Boxer, which can be adapted to suit a range of tasks, was showcased at the International Armoured Vehicle conference by the minister for defence procurement and industry Maria Eagle.

Built in the UK, the Boxer was the product of a £5billion investment in armoured vehicles, aimed at strengthening British industry and supporting 6,000 jobs, including 400 in Telford and Stockport and a thousand across the supply chain.

Innovation

Ms Eagle said: "The first fully British-made Boxer is a testament to the expertise and innovation of Britain's growing defence industry.
