'Biggest threat to farmers is this Labour government'

LABOUR is the “biggest threat” to British farmers, a Conservative MP has warned.
Dr Luke Evans hit out at the controversial inheritance tax raid unveiled in the autumn Budget as he accused the Government of “tightening the screws” on struggling farmers in recent months.
Dr Evans issued the warning as he backed the Daily Express It's Time To Buy British crusade.
Writing in today's paper, he says: “The biggest threat to farmers? This Labour Government.”
He adds: “What does Labour have against our farmers? It’s time for us to step up and put food security squarely on the nation's table.”
Dr Evans, who represents the rural constituency of Hinckley and Bosworth in Leicestershire, has already successfully campaigned for supermarkets to create “buy British” sections for online shoppers.
Labour has faced an ongoing backlash for limiting the 100% inheritance tax relief for farmers to only the first £1million of combined agricultural and business property.
The Express has been demanding a U-turn with our Save Britain's Family Farms campaign. It comes as the Tories have warned of the impact on farmers of the new UK-US trade deal.
