Bargain Hunt's Hanson: 'Headlock' on pregnant wife was a 'loving hug'

BARGAIN Hunt star Charles Hanson told police he held his pregnant wife in a "loving" hug and not a headlock, a court has heard.

The jury was told that the television auctioneer said during a police interview that Rebecca Hanson was a "fantasist" who "can exaggerate things".

Hanson, of Mackworth, Derby, was charged with controlling or coercive behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating. He denies the charges.

His wife has told the jury at Derby Crown Court that Hanson, 46, used violence against her over a decade.

It began in 2012, she claimed, when her husband allegedly held her in a headlock during an argument while she was pregnant.

A police interview with Hanson the day after he was arrested in June 2023, was read to the court yesterday.
