ANDRE ONANA says Manchester United must win the Europa League to salvage something from a disastrous campaign.
The Red Devils have endured their worst season of the Premier League era, with Ruben Amorim’s side 12th in the table.
The Europa League has provided United with some respite from their domestic woes, with the team unbeaten in the competition this season and fourth in the table.
United are guaranteed a place in next month’s playoffs, but a win against FCSB – formerly Steaua Bucharest – in tonight’s final league phase game will see them bypass that round and qualify for the last 16 automatically.
If they lift the trophy in Bilbao in May they will earn a place in next season’s Champions League.
Given United are 12 points off the Premier League top four, Onana knows the Europa League is their best chance of reaching the continent’s top club competition.
