Floods could risk lives and disrupt travel
Recent flooding in Monmouth , South Wales
DECEMBER starts today with an amber alert for rain as heavy showers in some areas bring a serious risk of flooding with icy water.
The alert states “fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, which could cause a danger to life” in most of South Wales.
Yellow rain warnings have also been issued in parts of England and Wales until 3am tomorrow, as well as for most of today in southwest Scotland.
The amber warning means people could be hit by extensive flooding of homes and businesses, travel disruption, power loss and landslides.
