McEnroe, Djokovic and Barker join tearful Centre Court tribute as doubles defeat sees farewell move step closer

On Centre Court, Wimbledon AN EMOTIONAL Andy Murray was honoured on Centre Court last night and received a standing ovation in one of the final moments of his Wimbledon career.

The crowd, including tennis greats John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova and Novak Djokovic, rose to their feet to give the 37-year-old a hero's welcome as he appeared alongside his brother Jamie in the men's doubles.

They lost against Rinky Hijikata and John Peers but it was clear Andy, who is retiring because of injuries, will always be winner to fans.

After the match, the former Wimbledon and Olympic champion wiped away a tear and told former BBC presenter Sue Barker: "The last few years have been hard for me but I think hard for (my team).
