6,000% rise in fines as council puts up 'really small' speed limit signs

DRIVERS hit out at new "tiny" 20mph signs after fines on one road rose by a whopping 6,000%.
The speed limit on St John's Lane in Bristol was cut from 30mph to 20mph last October, and 440 offences were recorded that month - there had been 34 a year before. Cameras then filmed 1,648 offences in November-up from just 27.
Locals claim motorists are caught out by "tiny" 20mph signs on the busy road that links the A37 to the A38. Those caught speeding are fined £100, with some given the option of a speed awareness course to avoid points on their licence.
