25 years in jail for fugitive who murdered dog walker
Daily Express
|August 07, 2025
A JAIL fugitive who murdered a grandmother during her morning dog walk in a brutal attack while he was living off-grid has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 25 years.
Roy Barclay battered Anita Rose with “numerous kicks, stamps and blows” as she exercised her springer spaniel Bruce in Brantham, Suffolk.
The mum-of-six was found by passers-by but died four days later.
Barclay, 56, was earlier convicted of murder at Ipswich Crown Court and showed no emotion as he was sentenced there yesterday.
He was previously jailed for a 2015 attack on a pensioner that prosecutors said bore similarities to the killing of Ms Rose, 57, in July last year. Barclay had been freed in February 2020 but had not been living at a fixed address.
