400,000 patients spend entire day in casualty
TWENTY-four hours in A&E is "no longer just a documentary" but a fact of life, leading medics have warned.
Shock figures reveal 399,908 patients spent a day or more in an emergency department in England in 2022/23.
The Royal College of Emergency Medicine, which uncovered the statistics via a Freedom of Information request, said the delays are a "matter of national shame" that are impacting patients.
