OKOYE AIMING TO MAKE BRITISH RECORD A PLATFORM FOR MEDALS
LAWRENCE Okoye is hoping that his British record-breaking discus throw in Oklahoma is a sign of things to come this season.
The 33-year-old former Whitgift School student set a new personal best and British record at the Oklahoma Throw Series World Invitation with a discus throw of 70.76 metres earlier this month.
Adding more than two metres to his previous best of 68.24 set in Germany in May 2012, the Croydon Harrier now believes that he is throwing better than ever.
He is hoping the record will put in good stead for the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo later this year.
