CLUB ENJOYS LONGEST TABLE-TOPPING SPELL SINCE DAYS OF JIMMY HILL IN 1967
COVENTRY City fans are on cloud nine at the minute, even belting out a new terrace chant on a regular basis... 'We are top of the league, we are top of the league!'
Sure, they've sung it before on the odd occasion that the Sky Blues have managed to get to the number one spot after a couple of early season wins, or for 24 hours, as they did in October 2001.
In terms of the modern era, the team managed it for a couple of weeks when they won the League One title in 2020, but the current run of six weeks is the longest any City side has headed any league table since their big promotion season under Jimmy Hill back in 1967.
