New consultation opens for city solar farm plan

AMENDED plans for a solar farm in Coventry have opened for public consultation.
The plans state that Lentons Lane Solar Farm, situated next to the M6 between Aldermans Green Lane and Hinckley Road, has the potential to produce 25MW of clean energy.
Based on feedback from the first consultation in 2023, the refreshed design has been made 15 per cent smaller and could generate enough power to recharge one electric bus over 66,000 times a year, developers say.
The plans form part of a Strategic Energy Partnership between E.ON and Coventry City Council.
When connected to the energy grid, the solar farm will contribute to producing clean, sustainable electricity to support the city’s climate change strategy.
The council is said to also finan cially benefit from the profits gener ated by its operation.
