New 20m phone mast plan for street to be considered

A NEW 20m phone mast could be installed on a residential street in Exhall.

It will replace the existing 9.7m pole on Armson Road.

EE has asked Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council for the go-ahead to install the 20m mast with wraparound cabinet and nine antennas. In the planning application it explains that the larger mast is needed to upgrade the service in the area, from phone calls to 4 and 5G.

“The existing site cannot provide enough coverage for the general area and the Emergency Services Network,” the application states. It adds that that there was a previous approval at this site location to upgrade the existing monopole to a 20m monopole, on the adjacent highway, but due to build and technical issues it was not installed.
