Frontline injuries pose problems for way forward

COVENTRY City may well have raced to a ten-point lead at the top of the Championship but Frank Lampard is starkly aware of the potential pitfalls that lay ahead as his players strive to stay on course for automatic promotion.

- By ANDY TURNER

The biggest obstacle in the way of the Sky Blues right now appears to be injuries at the front end of the pitch, with leading scorer Brandon Thomas-Asante the latest to fall victim to a lengthy layoff.

The Ghana international had been Lampard's go-to Mr Versatility, who has done a sterling job filling in on both wings and in the number ten position in recent months while others sat out for treatment.

Now out for a minimum of six weeks himself with a hamstring strain, others will now be called upon to fill the void.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto also remains a doubt after it was confirmed that he suffered a concussion at Middlesbrough last midweek, although Haji Wright is on course for a return from a thigh injury.
