Former Cov City player is sent to jail for rape

AN ex-Coventry City FC player who raped a drunk woman at an Airbnb has been jailed.

Oluwasanmi Odelusi was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on May 2.

Odelusi, 32, who played for Bolton Wanderers, MK Dons and Coventry City, raped the 'defenceless' woman, who cannot legally be named, in November 2021. She had been visiting the UK from the United States.

She had been staying with friends at an Airbnb in London. She had gone clubbing in Piccadilly when she met Odelusi and his friend Ryan Sellers.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard that the 27-year-old woman and her friend were 'heavily intoxicated.' Odelusi had travelled back to the Airbnb with the pair and tried to speak to the victim, who was 'not interested.'
