Ex-pats are fleeing back home to Britain
Coventry Telegraph
|March 20, 2026
WHEN I was at school, my history teacher told the class that we should judge everything ever said and written by historians in the same way as everything ever said and written over time about Don Revie (who had recently left the England manager job after what I shall just say were contentious circumstances).
Well these last couple of decades or so, we've had to put up with no end of British expats forever telling us how great Dubai is - only to now flee back here with their tails between their legs once Iranian missiles have started raining down on the place.
It turns out that Britain isn't so bad after all then - eh? So not everything written and said for that long by expats was true.
