SKY BLUES' STUTTERING RUN CONTINUES DESPITE TWICE EQUALISING AT ST ANDREW'S

DERBY DAY BLUES

Josh Eccles slots home a brilliant equaliser for 1-1 at St Andrew's

COVENTRY City are now winless in their last three matches following a narrow 3-2 defeat to Birmingham City at St Andrew's.

Although Frank Lampard’s side maintains a comfortable cushion at the top of the Championship, they will be eager to return to winning ways shortly to quiet any growing nerves.

Birmingham led three times, only to be pegged back twice after goals from Josh Eccles and Ellis Simms, but the hosts held on to end their seven-game winless streak.

Fortunes ebbed and flowed in a derby fixture that delivered drama from the first whistle until stoppage time when Sky Blues defender Bobby Thomas was dismissed.

Boss Lampard made four changes to the Coventry team that started at Charlton Athletic on New Year's Day. Jay Dasilva returned from suspension in place of Kaine Kesler-Hayden while Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Ephron Mason-Clark and Jack Rudoni were all restored to the starting lineup.
