A MOPED rider and his pillion passenger tried to evade police by leading them on a chase at 60mph and by throwing items at officers, a court heard.

On December 30 last year, Aiden Robert Parsons had been riding his Honda NSC110 on the A392 when a police car flashed its lights for him to stop as he was not allowed to have a pillion passenger on a provisional licence.
When they drove up alongside him to make him stop, the 19-year-old from South Park in St Columb sped off instead. As he did so, he collided with a stationary vehicle before righting up his moped and driving off.
