Tributes paid ahead of upcoming by-election

COUNCILLORS have paid tribute to former Glastonbury councillor Nick Cottle ahead of an upcoming by-election.

Mr Cottle passed away on August 11 at the age of 69, shortly after returning to the UK from a holiday in Canada.
Following Mr Cottle’s funeral in Glastonbury on September 11, a by-election to replace him was officially announced, with candidates given until last Friday (September 26) to register their nominations.
‘The candidates for the by-election have now been confirmed, with five people vying to take Mr Cottle’s place when Glastonbury voters go to the polls on October 23.
Councillor Mike Best, chairman of the council, led the tributes when the full council convened in Bridgwater.
Mr Best (Liberal Democrat, Crewkerne) said: “Nick served his community with dedication and distinction for many years.
