Two men believed to be behind a string of blue light robberies met their end in a fierce shootout with police forces in Parys, Free State, on 14 December 2025.

The operation began when a joint team of police units from Gauteng, including the Tactical Response Team, Traffic Airwing, Detectives Tracking Team, and Head Office Counter Intelligence, acted on solid intelligence. Private security companies also joined the effort, showing the collaborative approach to fighting crime in the region.
