The men and women of the Maine Maritime Academy swimming and diving team were in Wellesley, Mass., February 13-16, competing in the Little East Conference Championships.

The men's team finished in second place out of seven teams, while the women's team claimed fifth place out of 11 participating schools.

The Mariners had several top-three finishes throughout the four-day event, led on the men's side by senior Carson Trout. Trout won three events, the 50-yard butterfly, the 100-yard butterfly, and the 100-yard freestyle, where he set the LEC Championship meet record with a time of 47.22.

Sophomore John Driscoll also set a meet record, winning the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 24.60. In addition to his win in the 50, Driscoll also finished second in the 200-yard backstroke.

Junior Aidan Burke took home a pair of third-place finishes-winning bronze in the 50-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events.

Nathaniel Gibbons also won a bronze medal, finishing third in the 500-yard freestyle.
