Bowlers set for crunch encounters

IT is nearing crunch time for Carmarthenshire bowls clubs in the race to reach the open draw of the National Club Championship.

The final matches of the qualifying sections take place this weekend, and while there are favourites to win three of the groups, all eyes will be on the Section 2 match at People’s Park where Parc y Dre host Kidwelly Town.
Both are unbeaten, leaving this as a winner-takes-all scenario.
In Section 1, Graig Merthyr host Tybie and any slip-up by the Pontarddulais side could leave the door open for Llanelli who visit Crusaders at Parc Howard.
