Investigation after kidnapping, rape

THE police in Thohoyandou are investigating a kidnapping and rape case involving a 31-year-old mentally challenged female victim at Shayandima after an incident that occurred on January 24.
Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said the 56-year-old mother of the victim reportedly left her daughter at home and went to purchase food at a local supermarket.
"When the mother returned, she discovered that her daughter was not at home. She searched for her and eventually opened a missing person's case at the police station."
