PM Modi attacks TMC, launches Rs 5,400-crore development push in Durgapur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a twin-pronged campaign in this industrial city of West Bengal - resorting to a scathing political attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and unveiling a series of major development projects worth over Rs 5,400 crore.

Modi arrived at Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport in Andal at 3 PM and travelled by road to Nehru Stadium, 16 kilometres away, where he attended an administrative programme launching several projects for the infrastructural growth in the region.

Later, at a public rally, Modi accused the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government of derailing Bengal’s progress through “corruption, lawlessness, and hostility to investment.” He alleged that West Bengal’s immense potential was being squandered under the current administration.

“The TMC government has become a wall standing against Bengal’s development. The day it collapses, Bengal will catch the speed of development. After TMC is thrown away, then only there will be real change,” he said.
