In Nalgonda district, 160 percent of the grain was purchased in this Rabi compared to the last Rabi, District Collector Ila Tripathi said.

On Friday, State Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister Nallamada Uttamkumar Reddy, along with State Government Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, held a video conference with all district collectors, additional collectors and civil supplies officers from Hyderabad on the procurement of Rabi grain. The District Collector informed about the details of the grain procurement in the district and said that it was estimated that 5 lakh 57 thousand metric tons of grain would be received in the district this Rabi, and so far 70 to 80% of the grain has been purchased, and about 5 lakh 14 thousand metric tons of grain have been collected. He said that another 22,000 metric tons of grain are in the procurement centers. Last year, 3 lakh 3498 metric tons of grain were purchased in Rabi at the same time, while this year so far 5 lakh 14 thousand 743 metric tons of grain have been purchased, which is 160 percent more than last year. He said that there are no problems with gunny bags and tarpaulins at the purchase centers, and that initially there was a problem because farmers brought the grain without threshing it, but now there are no problems.
