Farmers Challenge Future City Plan, Issue Warning to Govt

Even as the Telangana government hosts the ambitious Future City Global Summit at Meer Khanpet on Monday and Tuesday, farmers from Yacharam mandal have issued a strong challenge to the project, questioning the government's legal authority to use lands originally acquired for the proposed Pharma City.

In a press statement released on Monday, the Pharma City Virodha Porata Committee alleged that the Congress government had gone back on its election promise to scrap the Pharma City project and return farmers’ lands. The farmers alleged that while the government is now promoting Future City at the global summit, it has submitted affidavits in court stating that the Pharma City project is being continued.
