The state government has issued orders to upgrade another 9 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in Nagarkurnool district to the intermediate level.
Until last year, intermediate classes were being conducted in 11 KGBVs in the district. Starting this academic year, 9 more KGBVs will be upgraded, and first-year intermediate classes will commence in the upcoming academic session.
Currently, 5,740 girls are studying in 20 KGBVs across the district. The government is providing all necessary facilities and ensuring quality education. With guaranteed safety and good education for girls, parents are showing interest in enrolling their daughters in these institutions.
KGBVs in Nagarkurnool District
KGBVs are located in the mandals of Nagarkurnool, Thimmajipet, Bijinapally, Tadoor, Telkapally, Pedda Kothapally, Kollapur, Pentlavelli, Kodair, Kalwakurthy, Veldanda, Urkonda, Charakonda, Vangoor, Uppununthala, Achampet, Balmur, Lingala, Amrabad, and Padara.
Out of the 20 KGBVs currently operating in the district, 5,740 girls are pursuing education. The government established these schools to promote girl child education, admitting students from Class 6 onward. Each KGBV accommodates up to 200 students up to Class 10 and up to 360 students for intermediate education.
