WC's new strategy to prevent water woes launched
Cape Argus
|November 04, 2025
CAPE TOWN has a long history of water challenges, from the crippling Day Zero drought in 2018 to devastating floods in recent years. Now, the Western Cape Government is taking bold steps to ensure the province never faces such uncertainty again.
Last week, the government launched its Water Resilience Strategy 2025-2035, a 10-year plan designed to secure the province's water future through sustainable management, innovation, and partnerships.
"The Water Resilience Strategy is about ensuring that every community, farm, business, and ecosystem has reliable, sustainable, and equitable access to water," said Anton Bredell, Western Cape MEC of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, at the launch in Cape Town.
