WHAT started as a story of struggle has turned into a heartwarming tale of hope and generosity for Stellenbosch University student Courtney Du Plessis, whose outstanding tuition fees have now been paid in full just days after her story appeared in the Cape Argus' sister publication, the Weekend Argus.

Within three days of publication, SERR Synergy, a nationally recognised legal compliance company, reached out to Du Plessis and settled the full amount of more than R120 000.
Du Plessis, a third-year education student, had earlier shared that she was facing the devastating possibility of attending her graduation ceremony without being able to receive her official certificates.
