Mitchells Plain graduate seeks funding for Master's in food innovation abroad

A STELLENBOSCH University food science graduate has received a life-changing opportunity to pursue her Master's degree in food and beverage innovation and management at Marche Polytechnic University in Italy.

Fallon Matthews is eager to take up the opportunity abroad but needs to cross a financial hurdle first.

The young graduate, who hails from Mitchells Plain, has only received a partial scholarship, which only covers her tuition.

She has since opened a BackaBuddy campaign to raise the much-needed funds.

“Although my tuition is covered through the scholarship, I am not able to take up my place because I do not yet have the required funds for the essential costs associated with relocating and securing a study visa,” she said.

Funds raised through the Back-aBuddy campaign will go directly towards her flights to Italy, accommodation, health insurance, and living expenses.

“This support is especially important right now, as my programme has already started and exams are approaching. Without these funds, I will not be able to secure my visa or take up the place I have worked so hard for,” she said.

Matthews joined the programme remotely in September.
