Hawks convict senior cop in R5m RAF fraud

A SENIOR police officer has been convicted of conspiring to defraud the Road Accident Fund (RAF) of R5 million.
The conviction follows a thorough investigation by the Hawks, which uncovered that the officer manipulated official accident reports in East London.
Warrant Officer Mandlenkosi Njekanye, 50, and Xolani Somtsewu, 45, were found guilty of fraud and defeating the ends of justice by the East London Regional Court on Friday, following an extensive investigation by Hawks, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation.
