THE City of Cape Town prematurely announced amendments to the Draft Budget that missed the mark by a mile A serious question arises with the premature amendments announced by the City of Cape Town to the 2025/26 Draft Budget.
The comment period was still open when these changes were announced, effectively, bluntly, and inexcusably ignoring the thousands of comments received by the City AFTER the amendments to the Budget were announced by the Mayor.
It seems that more than 10 000 signatures and comments were not considered based on the petition circulated on the web by the Cape Town Collective Ratepayers Association (CTCRA). These signatures and comments were simply not taken into account by the City of Cape Town, and instead, made superficial amendments to the Budget.
