Paedophile was 'intent' on committing offence
Cambridge News
|July 07, 2025
A CONVICTED paedophile who was under a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) asked if he could abuse a six-year-old girl if he took her for dinner first.
Michael Clarey, 59, went online specifically to try to find a child to abuse on February 6 and used a false name to try and cover his tracks.
He admitted to being a paedophile who had previously abused children and began exchanging messages with someone who sent him a photo of a six-year-old girl, taken at random from a blog post. Clarey believed he was talking to the girl's parent, although police believe it was an online activist group.
He asked if he could sexually abuse the girl and said he would take her for a meal and shopping first in Cambridge or Norwich.
