SMITH IS DELIGHTED TO RETURN FROM HIS TEN-MONTH INJURY HELL

CAMBRIDGE United midfielder Korey Smith said it was an “amazing feeling” to make his return from injury following a spell of more than eight months on the sidelines.

The 34-year-old was brought straight into the starting 11 for Tuesday’s 1-0 Carabao Cup loss at Fulham, with the midfielder also handed the captain's armband for the fixture.

Smith last featured for the U’s in a defeat to Bristol Rovers on January 4, and discussing being back involved following his lengthy knee ligament setback, the midfielder told his club: “It would've be nicer with a win to be fair, but to be honest personally, I just wanted to enjoy the game.
