DISTRICT COUNCIL BACKS GROUPS TO DELIVER ESSENTIAL SERVICES
Cambridge News
|January 01, 2026
LOCAL voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across South Cambridgeshire are set to benefit from a major funding boost after the district council announced £900,000 in grants over the next three years.
-
The funding will be delivered through the council’s Service Support Grants programme, providing £300,000 a year from 2026 to 2029 to help local organisations deliver essential services.
These include mental health support, independent living assistance, advice services and help for residents facing cost-of-living pressures.
The new funding represents a significant increase on the previous budget of £167,400 per year, almost doubling the amount available and highlighting the council's commitment to improving community wellbeing, tackling inequality and reducing social isolation.
Councillor John Williams, lead cabinet member for resources at South Cambridgeshire District Council, said the increased funding reflects the vital role local organisations play in supporting residents.
