|May 22, 2026
India and the African Union on Thursday announced the postponement of the Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS IV), which was scheduled to take place in New Delhi from May 28-31, 2026, because of concerns over the spread of the Ebola virus.
Ebola virus
In a statement, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the summit is being postponed because of the evolving health situation in parts of Africa. The statement did not specifically mention the developing health emergency because of the spread of the Ebola virus.
The India-Africa Summit was to be held after a gap of 11 years. The previous three instalments were held in 2008, 2011 and 2015. The summit was an effort by India to expand its trade, investments and developmental work with Africa. Alongside the Summit, several other events were being organised, including business meetings, and also the first summit of the International Big Cat Alliance on June 1 and 2.
