Govt okays projects worth ₹5,532 crore under ECMS

The government on Monday approved seven projects under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), involving investments worth %5,532 crore anda production target of 44,406 crore. These projects are expected to generate over 5,000 direct jobs.
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the projects approved underthe firsttranche focus onthe manufacturing of printed circuit boards (PCBs), copper-clad laminates, camera modules, and polypropylene films. He also reiterated that the move marks a major step in India's journey from making finished productstomanufacturing modules, and also reducing dependence for critical components.
