Comelec issues new rules on party-list registration for 2028

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued new rules governing the registration and accreditation of political parties, party-list groups, coalitions, and citizens’ arms for the 2028 national and local elections.

In Resolution 11204 promulgated on March 11, the poll body laid down procedures covering the filing of petitions for registration, cancellation of registration, nomination of party-list candidates, and submission of reportorial requirements.

The resolution will apply to the 2028 national and local elections and subsequent elections, the commission said.

Under the new rules, organized groups seeking registration as political parties or party-list groups must file a verified petition before the Office of the Clerk of the Commission.
