SWAN SCULPTURE INSTALLED IN ATRIUM AT MAIN ENTRANCE TO QUEEN'S HOSPITAL IN BURTON

- By EVA MILLETT

PATIENTS and visitors can admire a new swan sculpture installed at Queen's Hospital Burton.

A grant from life sciences company Sciensus enabled the artwork which features five white willow swans captured in a moment of movement and light, to be commissioned.

It can now be viewed in the atrium area at the main Belvedere Road entrance of the hospital following its unveiling this month.

The installation is designed to provide a warm and uplifting welcome to patients, staff and visitors, as the idea came directly from NHS staff who chose which animal they would most like to see represented in the space.

Artist Emma Parkins’ signature style brings the ancient craft of willow weaving to life with a unique artistic flair drawn from her background in illustration.
