Solar panels a bright idea at leisure centre

£510K GRANT SEES 600 PANELS INSTALLED AT MEADOWSIDE
A LEISURE centre in Burton has had 600 solar panels installed following a half-a-million pound grant.
Work has been completed on the panels at Meadowside Leisure Centre following a £510,000 injection from Sport England's Swimming Pool Support Fund, as part of East Staffordshire’s bid to become carbon neutral.
The borough council has also confirmed that a further £339,000 has been awarded from the fund to install solar panels at Uttoxeter Leisure Centre.
The council will again be working in partnership with Leisure Energy, who were the principle contractors for the Meadowside installation, with work in Uttoxeter expected to start next month.
