It's not exactly 'gone quiet' but perhap fans expected more

IT WOULD be unfair to state that things have “gone quiet” in the summer transfer window for Burton Albion, as it is only a couple of days since defender Toby Sibbick was announced.

- By COLSTON CRAWFORD

Sibbick’s move, like so many, was one of those that the hordes of transfer speculators who are busy at this time of year had not got wind of.

Perhaps, though, we would have expected a little more movement than has happened with the Brewers so far - and at the same time, perhaps we should not be concerned.

We expected more movement because the club clearly have an excess of players who are probably not going to be involved when the real business starts and they may be proving difficult to place elsewhere, either on loan or otherwise.

After all, we have often been told that the clubs - a majority of them - who cannot wave massive cheque books about, or are too sensible to do so, have to be patient at this time of year.

After all, everyone is happy with the manager who dug the squad out of a hole last season and Gary Bowyer proved how well he can spot a player with his work in the January window.
