Gray satisfied with 'job done' in Vase tie victory

IT was a case of getting the job done for Gresley Rovers in their FA Vase second qualifying round tie at home to Uttoxeter Town and they did just that with a 4-1 home win over the lower-ranked side on Saturday.

 Andy Gray
It was an effort that pleased manager Andy Gray as his side did not give Uttoxeter a sniff at an upset.
"They have a new manager and have had a couple of good results, so they came here with a lot of confidence but I genuinely think we were the better side for the whole of the game," said Gray.
"People say it was expected but you still have to go out there and put on a performance and we did, so all good."
Gresley went 2-0 up with Finlay Barker's second goal shortly after halftime and there was the merest blip when Uttoxeter pulled a goal back but they did not seriously threaten an equaliser before the Moatmen pulled away again.
"Uttoxeter got back to 2-1 but I just kept telling them, we were on top, controlling the game, just keep doing what you're doing," said Gray.
"Once we got back to how we were we ran it. We hit the woodwork three times."
Barker, moved up front by Gray, could certainly have doubled his goal tally but Gray is pleased with what he is seeing from the forward.
