Fresh bid to help protect key heritage

LIST NOW BEING COMPILED TO INFORM PLANNING DECISIONS
COUNCIL chiefs are to take action to protect heritage assets across East Staffordshire.
The borough council is now in the process of compiling a list of key conservation areas and buildings in Burton and Uttoxeter.
It is hoped that the creation of the list will, in addition to helping protect the borough's heritage, improve planning decisions.
Currently, the council does not have a list of heritage assets.
Some have been identified in neighbourhood plans, but these need to be formally adopted by the council.
Once identified the assets receive greater protection in the planning process.
