ATHLETICS: Eleven Burton Athletes travelled to Bulwell Hall Park for the Derbyshire and Nottingham County Championships.

Finley Pidcock was the first to run in the seniors 10K race and he ran well for 20th place out of 72 runners finishing 14th in his age group.

The under-17 men's race had six Burton runners in action over 6K. Ewan Withnall was soon clear of the other Derbyshire runners and was in a fight against the two Nottinghamshire runners who had beat him in the last league race.

A close finish saw him just behind one Nottingham runner but he easily won his fourth Derbyshire Cross country championship.

Henry Hemmings took fifth and Noah Wood was seventh to all get selection for the inter counties and win the team race. Lewis Boyce was ninth, Theo Jones 10th and Frank Moss 11th and all are reserves.

The under 17 and 20 women's race was over 5K and in the U17s Charlotte Nettleton was 4th and Mille Nettleton eighth and Connie Lees took seventh in the under 20s all three gaining selection and picking up a team medal.

The last race saw Jacob Dutton in action in the under 15 over 4.5K. On paper he was a clear favourite for second but it looked like Osneil Segal of Derby after winning at Allestree and at a parkrun over Dutton would win.
