Bridge barriers to block heavy vehicles

NEW CONCRETE BARRIERS INSTALLED TO PROTECT CHETWYND BRIDGE
CONCRETE barriers have been installed on a bridge near Alrewas.
The historic Chetwynd Bridge was closed between 6.45pm and 11.45pm on Tuesday, May 13, to allow for the installation of the stronger new barriers, which have replaced the previous plastic ones.
Staffordshire County Council says the closure was coordinated with local businesses and “timed to ensure the least amount of disruption possible”.
The Grade II Listed bridge was extensively restored in 2022, with a weight restriction imposed for safety reasons.
