BURTON Albion boss Gary Bowyer has been hailed for the "incredible job he's done" during his time in charge of the Brewers by an EFL expert.

'Bowyer deserves plenty of credit for Burton job'

Bowyer was appointed by Albion in December last year with the club sitting second from bottom in the League One table, nine points adrift of safety with 19 games of the campaign played.

The new boss was unable to secure a victory for the Brewers in his first six games in charge, with Albion dropping to the foot of the division and the gap to the dotted line extending to 11 points, albeit having a game in hand.

A 2-1 victory at Wigan Athletic in January proved to be the catalyst for the Brewers' remarkable survival last term, with Bowyer's side going on to record nine victories in their final 21 league games to finish a point clear of the drop, having won just two of their first 25 matches.

The Brewers started slowly this term, picking up just five points from their opening eight League One matches, leaving them bottom of the table once more.

However, Albion have since been in superb form, taking 17 points from their last eight games to propel them clear of the drop zone.
